Margie Scariot Mahaffey Technology Facilitator
My name is Margie Scariot Mahaffey and I am the Technology Facilitator at Albemarle Road Middle School. This is my fourth year at ARMS and I believe we are really building a family of educators dedicated to the educational development of our 21st Century learners. This year ARMS became a Digital Learning School. We are a digital 1 to 1 school with Chromebooks. Students will travel with Chromebooks to every class utilizing the technology in class.
I have taught for 21 years at many different levels but my passion is technology. I completed my certification as a Technology Facilitator in 2003 and have worked as the Technology Facilitator for 15 years. In 2008 I earned a Master in School Administration and Curriculum and Instruction from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
I am a life-long learner and love teaching students and teachers about technology. I am constantly seeking new ideas to use in our school to help prepare our students to become 21st century life-long learners.
I am married and have no children but each year I have the privilege of welcoming 1200 new children into my life in August. However I do have a four legged child Bess and my other four legged child Bailey is in doggie heaven. Bess is 13 years old has a wonderful, playful heart. She is very protective of her home and loved ones. I love taking her for walks and going to the dog park meeting new friends. I miss my Bailey very much and still think of him often. I am an animal lover and enjoy volunteering at the Humane Society and helping find homes for homeless pets.
I have lived in Charlotte for 28 years. I was born in Pennsylvania and grew up in West Virginia. I love football and I am a dye-hard Pittsburgh Steelers Fan. After living in Charlotte for 28 years and working part-time for the Carolina Panthers, I have also become a Carolina Panther fan unless they play Pittsburgh. I really enjoy all sports but football is my favorite.
